Eastern Market With Melo and AM

I decided to take a 10 week certification course at the local public access channel in East Oakland county with the intention of making a variety show consisting of things that interest me. The channel is called CMNTV and it broadcasts to 150,000 households in the Detroit Metro area. The channel regularly has the standard "public access" type shows that are usually good for putting you to sleep if not for anything else. Upon finishing the course, it came time for me to get busy at producing my first show!

I placed an ad on Craigslist looking for actors, models, graffiti artists, rappers, producers, etc,. The first person to contact me was the manager of a local graffiti artsist named MELO. After a few days of organizing, we finally got together in Detroit's Eastern Market section. They aquired permission to paint the side of a meat processing wharehouse on the corner of Adelaide and Orleans.

The neighborhood wreaked of dead rotting animal parts thrown in the dumpsters in the alleyways. The neighborhood was alive with buzzing shoppers just a block away in the central part of Eastern Market where urbanites and suburbanites alike come to shop for locally grown foods and meats. Melo pulled up with his crew and we rolled out the wall in preparation. I also prepared my video equipment and took some time to walk around and get some extra shots before we MELO got busy bombing the wall.

MELO decided to give his friend AM a call and get him in on the show. AM pulled up in his car along with his girlfriend, got all his paing that he keeps in milkcrates in his trunk and him and MELO got busy.

I did my best to catch all the action. Armed with a Canon Vixia HD camera with two hours of record time, I was feeling confident about getting some great content for the show. I caught seagulls fighting, locals gave me there opinions on the artwork, there was a couple of guys with a cool boombox setuo on their bike and the day was great. I had a few Millers and some Jose to get loose while filming, as well.

After a few hours of painting and gaining attention from all the people in Eastern Market, we wrapped up the shoot with healthy sunburns and satisfied artistic ambition. So goes the first segment in the first series of, The Frizzo Show.
